The opportunity

We are looking for a Power Systems Engineer who will be responsible for performing electrical studies and planning utility electrical distribution systems which will include Distribution System Planning Studies, hosting capacity studies, Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) impact studies, constraint management studies, power flow and reliability studies. We need a  Power Systems Engineer who would love to develop and test the most advanced DER’s models in modern 4th generation modelling languages like GAMS that will be directly used by our software platform in order to give utilities the advanced tools they need to plan for the future electrical grid.

Who are you?

You are an ambitious, independent, team oriented Power System Engineer, who clearly understands power systems planning, operation, state-estimation and optimal control; is familiar with distribution system planning including DERs; familiar with energy markets and especially the transactive energy concept; must know power flow and optimal power flow formulation, analysis and implementation within GAMS/Matlab/CYME/PSSE; familiar with Excel (as a data analysis tool).

What will our new Power System Engineer work on?

  • Use computer modeling techniques and engineering expertise to assess electric distribution system adequacy and to identify the optimum size, configuration, and timing of changes.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients’ technical teams on the projects and be a technical expert and reference in discussions with clients and partners.
  • Interpret clients’ requirements, analyze complex power system data, evaluate options, deliver power system study projects including analysis of results, write high-quality project reports, deliver and present the results of analysis with practical recommendations to Clients
  • Work with Consulting team to expand our consulting practice through the development of innovative solution offerings for utilities.

Here’s what you bring:

  • The education. MSc in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems.
  • The experience. Minimum 3 years of cumulative experience in power engineering studies  (power systems planning, operation, state-estimation and/or optimal control.) Experience with 4th generation modeling languages like Matlab and GAMS.
  • The knowledge. Good understanding of a power system analysis software (CYME, powerfactory) is mandatory.
  • The Excellence. It’s important for you to get things done on-time and within the project deadlines.
  • The teamwork. You are self-motivated collaborator that can also work as a successful independent researcher.
  • The communication. You have exceptional written and oral communication skillsand can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • The innovation. You have the ability to anticipate problems and provide creative, quick - and reliable - solutions to complex problems.

Nice to have:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems.
  • PEng designation.
